Native Delphi Internet Components

Delphi comes with several ActiveX Internet components. Native Delphi Internet components would be (are) smaller and faster, and eliminate the ActiveX OLE overhead and huge MFC*.DLL runtime libraries that most ActiveX controls use. Additionally, assuming you have source code, native VCL components permit easy modification to meet specific application requirements.

NetMasters Inc., Nashua, NH, (www.startups.com) has built a high performance native Delphi WinSock component tool set consisting of 14 easy-to-use Internet components and an impressive HTML viewer that gives you control over every aspect of your app's Web operations.

George Lambert, Chief Technologist, Netmaster Inc., will discuss integrating Internet technologies into Delphi applications and the advantages of using native Delphi components. He will review source code and programming issues, explain how to develop Delphi applications that incorporate Internet access and technologies, and demonstrate several Netmaster native Delphi Internet components which include HTTP, FTP, NNTP, SMTP, POP3, PSOCK (TCP socket Set), and NetMessage Server (Messaging Server). This set of tools has evolved to become the widest range of native Delphi client socket tools available to the Delphi developer community.

This months meeting will provide an opportunity to become familiar with Internet enabling Delphi applications and investigating the design and performance issues associated with using ActiveX and/or native Delphi components.
