ActiveX technology is a set of services and standards built on COM interfaces. Delphi 3’s support of ActiveX includes a combination of new language extensions, new classes, and new design time wizards. These features create a development environment that significantly reduces the effort required to create, debug, deploy, and maintain ActiveX controls, as well as COM servers and COM interfaces.

At this months meeting Ray Konopka, Raize Software Solutions, Inc., will explain the major features of ActiveX technology and explore Delphi’s ActiveX capabilities. His presentation will focus on how to convert a native Delphi component into an ActiveX control. Specific topics include using the ActiveX Control Wizard, the Delphi ActiveX (DAX) framework, design guidelines, using Delphi ActiveX controls in other programs, and debugging. Delphi 4 Sneak Preview: At the conclusion of Ray’s presentation we will have a sneak preview of Delphi 4. At this months meeting we will discuss the major enhancements and new features in Delphi 4. In September we will devote the entire meeting to investigating and demonstrating the features that are of major interest. With permission to give a sneak preview of Delphi 4 in June, it is safe to assume the official release is not long after that.
