Delphi Developers Group Main Meeting December 21, 1998 Dynamic Linked Libraries Dynamic Linked Libraries Dynamic Linked Libraries (DLLs), natively compiled and executable libraries, are linked into a program at runtime. DLLs contain related pieces of code, data, and/or resources that can be shared between applications. DLLs also provide Delphi Developers with greater flexibility over application architecture and better control over application runtime resources. The first part of this months meeting will focus on DLLs. Howard Schutzman, Creative Computing, will investigate the central DLL issues Delphi Developers should be familiar with. The topics he will consider include:
Application Architecture and Multi-Tier Applications The second part of the meeting will consider application design issues related to EXEs, DLLs and packages. We will look at application architecture and issues related to development, deployment, support, and maintenance. We will also consider the architectural issues related to multi-tier application design and investigate the impact communications issues have on application architecture. |
